Melody Buyukozer Dawkins earned her BA in Psychology from Bilkent University, and her MSc and PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her PhD dissertation examined the developmental underpinnings of equity expectations and early attitudes toward resource disparities. In addition to her academic work, Dr. Buyukozer Dawkins has worked as a researcher and organizer in labor and gender justice focused non-profits; has mentored high school and college students on STEM research projects; and served as a consultant for science communication initiatives. She is currently based in Chicago, working as a researcher at Slover Linett Audience Research, examining how people connect to the arts, museums, media, science, stories, ideas, creativity, and community.
