Instructor Position at the Department of Psychology, Bilkent University
Bilkent University invites career-track teaching position applicants in the Department of Psychology. The university’s strategic plan includes an expansion of the psychology department (psy.bilkent.edu.tr). We are particularly interested in candidates who are qualified to teach a wide variety of courses at the undergraduate level including introductory-level survey courses (e.g., introduction to psychology). This is primarily a teaching position, and the successful candidate is expected to display excellence in teaching and pedagogy. This position also requires engagement in department and university-level service duties such as academic advising, serving on various committees to improve and maintain excellence in teaching.
Qualifications and Responsibilities: Applicants should have a Ph.D. in psychology. A record of publication and an active research program are desirable. Successful applicants will teach 4 courses per semester (with no teaching requirement during summers), and may advise senior thesis students.
Appointment: The full-time appointments will begin in September 2022 (negotiable). Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The language of instruction in Bilkent is English. The Psychology Department serves around 350 undergraduate students, 50 graduate students and strives for excellence in teaching and world-class research. For 5 consecutive years, each newly admitted Psychology major has scored in the top 6% or higher on the national university entrance exam. The Department has newly renovated research laboratories, as well as access to the university’s state-of-the-art facilities, which include a 3 Tesla MRI scanner, animal research center, and EEG equipment.
Bilkent is located in Ankara, Turkey’s metropolitan capital with daily direct flights to Istanbul and other major European cities.
