{"id":5589,"date":"2021-05-07T01:18:25","date_gmt":"2021-05-06T22:18:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.psy.bilkent.edu.tr\/?page_id=5589"},"modified":"2026-03-13T17:17:45","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T17:17:45","slug":"ethics-committee-application-for-undergraduate-students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/psy.bilkent.edu.tr\/?page_id=5589","title":{"rendered":"Ethics Committee Application for Undergraduate Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>IRB Application Guideline for Psychology Students<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Psychology undergraduate students who work on undergraduate research projects that will NOT involve external institutions (e.g., T\u00dcB\u0130TAK, Ministry of National Education, etc.) and\/or be aimed for publication should apply to the Psychology Department Ethics Committee instead of the University Ethics Committee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Students should fill out the \u201cBilkent Student Ethics Form\u201d (see the link below), append the necessary documents (i.e., Informed Consent Form, Debriefing Form, Study Materials, Recruitment Materials &#8211; templates for Informed Consent and Debriefing Forms are available in the links below) to the end of the form and then create one single document. This application document shouldn\u2019t include any signatures at the initial application.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/psy.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Bilkent-Student-Ethics-Form.doc\">Bilkent Student Ethics Form<\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/psy.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Bilkent-Student-Ethics-Form-with-explanations.docx\">Bilkent Student Ethics Form (with explanations)<\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/psy.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Informed-Consent-Form-Template.docx\">Informed Consent Form Template<\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/psy.bilkent.edu.tr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Debriefing-Form-Template.docx\">Debriefing Form Template<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Advisors should review the application before it is submitted to check whether the application addresses ethical issues (e.g., anonymity, confidentiality, right for withdrawal with no negative consequences, etc.) and has the necessary documents. The advisors need to complete the \u201cSupervisor&#8217;s assessment\u201d part of the Ethics Form to ensure this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To streamline the process, the students need to make sure their application is in line with the Checklist provided in the link below.
